Microweddings were born out of the pandemic and created an entirely new way to get married. This Delaware beach wedding for Cara and Kevin truly embodies this new wedding style in a sentimental and beautiful way. With only about 12 guests, it shows that a big wedding isn’t the only option. You can have a dream day with your closest people and make it exactly what you want.

To get the day started, Cara got ready at a nearby Airbnb with her mom and best friends. It created a very chill atmosphere going into their wedding day. My favorite touch from the morinng is Cara reading her letter from Kevin.

Cara’s mom getting her ready couldn’t have been more special as well! These little wedding day moments are one of my favorite things to document.

Both Cara and Kevin look absolutely stunning on their wedding day! I love the colors and the little boho touches they incorporated into their outfits.

I could have photographed this stunning set-up all day! Paired with the perfect weather, this microwedding is truly gorgeous in every way. All the color and boho elements make it unique.

This design by the lovely Georgia Mae Events stole everyone’s heart! Syreeta creates the most stunning designs for weddings, she’s one of the best wedding planners in Delaware. This boho beach wedding design fits right into the beach and feels like an upscale backyard party.
At the core of their wedding day, they wanted to enjoy time with their closest friends and family in the place they love the most. After the ceremony, everyone got to enjoy a catered dinner under the night sky.

After being together since college, this day couldn’t have come at a better time for Cara and Kevin. Cara was expecting their first child during their wedding day. Between that and the pandemic, they knew it was finally time to tie the knot. Each of their parents came up to give a reading, and they also self officated their ceremony.

Getting married on the beach in Delaware is actually way easier than it sounds! Depending on the town, you will need to secure a beach ceremony permit. For the city of Lewes, DE, it’s a $500 permit fee. You can find the exact information and application for a Lewes, Delaware beach wedding at this link. If you want to use a different beach in Delaware, you can easily search the town’s requirements or give the municipality office a call.
For Cara and Kevin, it was really important that it was easy for their guests to attend amid the pandemic. With that in mind, everything took place in one spot.

There are a lot of factors to consider when planning a Delaware beach wedding. Since you don’t have a traditional venue space, you’ll need to think about where you’ll get ready and where you’ll go after.
My biggest recommendation is to hire a planner or day of coordinator to help with all the logistics. If you want something similar to this dinner party on the beach, it’s important to have someone who can help you organize all the elements.

For guest count, this is a perfect option for a initmate wedding of 20 guests or less. You can also have just the ceremony on the beach and then head to one of the many local restaruants for dinner afterwards. There’s endless options to truly make this your own!

As a Delaware wedding photographer, I’ve seen so many beautiful wedding days across the First State. If you want to see another beach wedding, head to this Big Chill Beach Club weding blog post! And if you’re still looking for a photographer for your wedding, inquire with me here!
