Lauren and Matt wanted a low key wedding that highlighted their favorite things about their life together. They have a beautiful home and absolutely adore their cat, Jack. To keep the focus on their love of each other and a great party, they decided to hold their wedding at Watermark Asbury Park. This is a beautiful venue that gave them the exact carefree experience they wanted.

Watermark Asbury Park

Watermark Asbury Park has a modern aesthetic. Woven wicker lamp shades hang above minimalist furniture. A green accent wall behind the bar and leather booths add more color and texture to the space. It’s fresh but not stuffy. You can imagine people really relaxing and settling into an experience here.

The decor at Watermark is understated enough that you can personalize the space to feel more you on your wedding day. Lauren and Matt included colorful flower installations. The rich colors elevated the space with a celebratory feeling.

With indoor and outdoor space available, Watermark is a viable option for weddings year round. Ceremonies often take place indoors in front of a large ocean-facing window. You get the beach view without the sand and hassle of a ceremony on the shore. The tall windows let in lots of lovely light.

You can host anything from a moderate wedding of 75 guests to up to 225 guests at Watermark. Ceremonies cost $1500, and full service, including the venue, bar, and in-house catering costs $165 per person. For a 100-guest wedding, that works out to about $18,000.

A Laid Back Wedding Day

When Lauren and Matt said that they wanted to keep their wedding day relaxed, they meant it! Matt got ready at home with his family and cat. He put a little tux on Jack and enjoyed some snuggles. Then he kicked around and spent time laughing and enjoying everyone’s company. 

Lauren got ready at the Asbury Ocean Club Hotel. This is a great spot to get ready before a Watermark Asbury Park wedding. The rooms are bright and sunlit. Cool, colorful mid-century modern furniture decorates the lounge. Lauren and Matt did their first look in the hall. Then we took a few portraits around the hotel before heading out into town. 

As part of their no-fuss wedding day, Lauren and Matt decided to limit their wedding party to a maid of honor and best man. They joined us for the walk around Asbury Park’s landmarks. The candid photos of Lauren and Matt with their friends show just as much joy as the posed portraits.

Like I said, I love photographing weddings in Asbury Park. There are so many colorful spots for portraits. It’s not your typical beach town. Murals and mosaics bring splashes of vibrant colors to photos. There’s art everywhere you look.

Lauren and Matt got married on a gorgeous spring day. The weather was warm and sunny with playful gusts of wind. We made the most of it! For portraits, we stopped by Convention Hall and the Carousel House before heading over to Watermark Asbury Park. 

Lauren and Matt’s Energetic Reception

Watermark Asbury Park really was the dream wedding venue for Lauren and Matt because they wanted their celebration to feel like one big party. They prioritized being present with their guests and having a great time. 

Watermark allowed them to have a full cocktail-style reception. There was no formal dinner or seating. People mingled and moved between tables and booths to relax and talk. 

Most of the guests spent the night on the dance floor! Lauren and Matt brought glow sticks. The reception passed in a happy blur of lights and people singing along to their favorite songs.
