The best weddings feel like they just fell into place, as if each detail was meant to be. That was definitely the case with Genevieve and Jordan’s Brantwyn Estate wedding. This stunning Delaware wedding venue turned out to be the ideal setting for their Jane Eyre-inspired wedding.
Brantwyn Estate includes a historic home and its gardens. The elegant brick house is built in the Georgian style. Walking around, it’s easy to feel like you’re starring in a romantic period drama.
A Brantwyn Estate wedding benefits from access to 60 acres of stunning land in the Brandywine Valley. There are woodlands in addition to the rolling meadows and gardens. This venue would be stunning any time of year. Genevieve and Jordan hit the jackpot with the magnolias and cherry trees blossoming in the spring, though. It made doing portraits such a treat.
The cost of a Brantwyn Estate wedding starts at $5,000 for a ceremony and reception. Brantwyn Estate can accommodate up to 160 guests seated and 250 standing. You’ll have room to invite all your closest people to your romantic event.
Reducing the number of vendors with whom you have to coordinate can really streamline your wedding experience. If you’re looking for a wedding venue that keeps things simple, Brantwyn Estate is worth a visit. They can provide in-house catering, getting ready rooms, a cake, and bar services.
Brantwyn Estate is associated with the DuPont Country Club in Wilmington, Delaware. It’s a 45-minute drive south of Philadelphia, making it a great location whether you’re coming from Delaware or Philly. Wilmington has lots of cute restaurants and hotels, so your guests will love staying nearby.
Genevieve and Jordan took inspiration from the British classic Jane Eyre for their Brantwyn Estate wedding. Despite what you might guess, it’s due their work in musical theater, not books. Early in their relationship, they bonded over music. Genevieve matched with Jordan on Bumble because he said on his profile that he sings to his cat.
Eventually, they joined the cast of Jane Eyre: The Musical. After the curtain call for one performance, Jordan proposed on stage! They loved the idea of using the story as inspiration for their wedding. Brantywn Estate is a perfect stand in for Thornfield Hall.
I love that Genevieve and Jordan want to continue pursuing theater after their marriage, too! Genevieve told me this: “We hope to build a really fun life together! We want to continue to perform in shows, and other shared activities together. We want to grow together as a couple, and support one another in our individual goals. When the time comes for kiddos, we want to raise them to be authentically themselves, and to know that they are very very loved.”
This Brantwyn Estate wedding was very true to Genevieve and Jordan. The Jane Eyre inspiration came into play with many small details. Genevieve brought a beautiful edition to include in detail photos. It looked magical beneath the rings in one photo.
All of the other wedding details played on antique floral motifs with plenty of ribbons and lace. Even though this was a spring wedding, florist We are Bloomin Wild added a bit of Brontë-worthy moodiness to the aesthetic with deep red roses in the floral arrangements. Inside the venue, small floral arrangements sat on top of vintage books for the reception decor.
Genevieve and Jordan planned lots of special moments for their day. They shared a first look in front of the venue. Afterward, they exchanged private vows. Genevieve got pretty misty-eyed! To top it all off, they did a private handfasting ceremony with a cord made out of beautiful vintage-style lace.
At the reception, Genevieve and Jordan designed some surprises for their parents, too. Genevieve’s father wrote a song for her, so she asked the band to play a special arrangement. They also surprised Genevieve’s mom with a dance. Each gesture showed so much care for their family members. It was really heartwarming to document!
I had such a blast photographing this Brantwyn Estate wedding! I can’t wait to come back to document another celebration with the gardens in full bloom.
