This is hands down one of my favorite proposals of allllll time (I mean, alll proposals are, but you get the idea). Someone gifted Kacie a photography session with me just about a year go. We were back and forth on what she would use it toward, until one day she decided on a couple’s shoot with her boyfriend, Dustin. WELL, imagine my surprise when her sweet sister, Brynn, texted me about Dustin’s plan. And so their Cape Henlopen surprise proposal was born!

Brynn messaged me in every possible way she could to let me know Dustin was proposing during their session. I just about DIED and knew we had to figure out how we could pull this off without Kacie getting suspicious. The three of us formed a group chat to talk all things engagement, how we could execute it, and how we could involve their families without them being seen. When I tell you I go all out to formulate surprise proposals for my couples, I mean it!

I decided to start the session just like any other couple’s session, and just roll with it until I got a text from Brynn. Brynn was going to let me know when everyone arrived so I could cue Dustin that the plan was a go. I was going to have Kacie be my stand in to “test the light”, while Dustin got down behind her! You can see the complete shock in her face when she turned around to find Dustin proposing to her!

Within minutes, both of their families came rushing down the beach to embrace them! There were plenty of tears, smiles, and congratulations all around them as they soaked up this perfect moment together. Now the countdown is ON for their April wedding, and I can’t wait to celebrate with them!! Enjoy my favorites from their Cape Henlopen surprise proposal!
