The minute the flight to Las Vegas was booked, I dove into planning a sand dunes engagement session. I’ve seen so many incredible sessions at the sand dunes out west and they are so dang inspiring! I’m sad the east coast doesn’t have rolling dunes like these, I’d never leave them. Thankfully I connected with Kim through this giant web of photographers, and we put together this dreamy sand dunes engagement shoot.
Would you believe that Nevada only gets rain a handful of times a year? Well, as luck would have it, the weather wasn’t looking so hot on the day we planned for. The area floods pretty quickly when heavy rain rolls in, and it can easily turn deadly. Our original plan was to use the sand dunes in Death Valley National Park, but we moved it at the last minute to avoid any potential danger from the incoming storm. We had the Amargosa Valley sand dunes alllll to ourselves, cue heart eyes!
I’m so thankful Kim + Tony came out to have this shoot with me. They’ve built a life together, had some adorable kiddos, and are living their best life in Nevada. Plus, Kim is also a talented photographer, and I loved chatting with her about her journey. I also have to thank them for letting us hitch a ride in their truck out to the dunes. Pro tip: Do nooooot go out there without a heavy duty 4×4 vehicle, TRUST ME.
All in all, I couldn’t have asked for a better time with these two lovebirds. It was a lovely afternoon of laughter, exploring, and creating some incredible art. Enjoy my favorites from their sand dunes engagement session!
