A Glen Foerd on the Delaware wedding has a touch of fairytale charm. The historic mansion and curated gardens feel like a European vision come to life. It was the perfect setting for Jenna and Kyle’s summer wedding. This mix of editorial and documentary wedding photos shows what an incredible day they had.
A Glen Foerd on the Delaware wedding gets historic charm and natural beauty. The nineteenth-century mansion has endless spaces for editorial-inspired portraits. Picture a sweeping terrace leading to art-lined halls and detailed woodwork. The sunroom overlooks the Delaware River. It all feels like a private retreat instead of a city wedding venue.
The gardens are just as magical as the mansion at Glen Foerd. They have a lush, rambling European atmosphere. Oaks that are over 300 years old shade paths to the rose garden and vineyard. The grounds themselves are actually a public park, so you can visit any day that it isn’t closed for a private event.
A Glen Foerd on the Delaware wedding can be as elaborate or simple as you want. It lends itself to elegant celebrations like Jenna and Kyle’s. The venue has capacity for up to 300 guests. The average cost for a 125-guest wedding on a Saturday is $25,000.
Even for historic wedding venues, Glen Foerd is unique. Philadelphia used to have a number of riverfront mansions. Glen Foerd is now the last. Charles Macalester built it in 1850. It’s complete with original architectural details, including towering columns on the front porch. In 1893, the Foerderer family bought the estate.
The Foerderer family’s passion for collecting art continues to be an important part of the mansion’s identity. On the second floor, an art gallery displays classic paintings. The foundation running the mansion now hosts an annual artist residency as well as youth arts programming year-round.
As you might have guessed, Glen Foerd is right on the Delaware River in Northeast Philadelphia. It’s about half an hour from Center City and fifteen minutes from Palmyra, New Jersey. Wherever your guests are coming from, they can easily access the venue from I-95.
Jenna and Kyle chose to have a Glen Foerd on the Delaware wedding because they wanted “an intimate European garden party vibe.” This is the perfect Philadelphia wedding venue to create that atmosphere. It pretty much comes built-in with the architecture and gardens.
Part of Jenna and Kyle’s goal for their wedding photography was to get some high fashion, editorial photos. We really leaned into that with their portraits around the mansion and gardens. The mix of documentary and editorial wedding photography made for a beautiful gallery.
I couldn’t have had more fun at this Glen Foerd on the Delaware wedding! It was truly an August scorcher, but we made it work. Jenna and Kyle kept the tone joyful from start to finish.
Music played a big part at this Glen Foerd on the Delaware wedding. Each song at the ceremony and formal dances had history for Jenna and Kyle. Jenna walked down the aisle to “So This is Love” from Cinderella. She said she felt like she was living out her own fairytale.
When it came to their first dance, Jenna and Kyle chose a Taylor Swift song. The Folklore album came out when they first started dating. Dancing to one of the songs felt really romantic and nostalgic for them.
The whole day was so much fun. Kyle is a really funny guy, and Jenna is a beam of light. They’re so sweet together! You could tell how happy they were to finally be married.
