As a wedding photographer, I love when couples do their day their way. Danielle and Kieler are anything but traditional. It made sense that they would choose an alternative wedding venue. Their Good Earth Market wedding, complete with a “til death” theme, took a nontraditional approach to celebrating their love. Their wedding photos are as eclectic and joyful as their day.
Couples who enjoy good food and nature will love a Good Earth Market wedding. The venue is a combination store-restaurant-Air BnB. The restaurant, Melissa’s, is a local favorite, and wedding catering includes farm to table meals.
This Delaware wedding venue is ideal for people who want an outdoor wedding. Available spaces include the East Field and the Herb and Flower Garden. The East Field is a large field surrounded by trees. It feels so secluded, like you’re in the middle of nowhere instead of Ocean View. The Herb and Flower Garden is a lush spot that’s great for small ceremonies and cocktail hours. The pergola easily turns into a wedding arch with some florals and decor.
Since there isn’t really any indoor space at this venue, you’ll want to make sure you have a tent. Good Earth Market is ideal for weddings in the late spring through early fall. Danielle and Kieler’s wedding gives you a good sense of how gorgeous the space is in the fall.
Good Earth Market isn’t just a shop and venue. You can actually stay there as well. The property includes cottages and a campground. This is perfect for getting ready. You can also invite guests to stay with you. If you don’t want to rough it, you can stay in one of the little cabins. It’s a great balance of summer camp and cozy cottage energy.
Everything about Good Earth Market feels organic and intimate. The venue actually has capacity to host up to 250 people. Rental costs for a Good Earth Market wedding start at $3,300.
Good Earth Market is located in Ocean View, Delaware. It’s about three hours south of Philadelphia and three hours east of Baltimore. If you’re not from the area, make plans to stay for the weekend.
Danielle and Kieler’s goal for their wedding was to be themselves completely. That meant lots of alt details that felt true to them. Their Good Earth Market wedding had a theme of “til death.” It suited the date (close to Halloween) without feeling campy. Instead their details were edgy and fun with plenty of color mixed in.
Danielle’s wedding dresses and Kieler’s suit are perfect examples of how they took a nontraditional route to personalizing their wedding. The first of Danielle’s two dresses (yes, two!!) was made of black lace. It featured a touch of sparkle and a slit that showed off her super cool boots. Kieler wore a crimson suit with a black shirt and tie. When they stood side by side they seriously looked meant to be.
The “til death” theme continued in Danielle and Kieler’s creative decor. Their tablescapes were works of art. Black tapers sat in cobra-shaped candleholders. Fall blooms poured out of little black vases between more candles and moss. The vintage glassware added deep shades of amber to the mix. This Good Earth market wedding was unlike any I’ve photographed.
Danielle and Kieler held their ceremony in the Herb and Flower Garden. Vintage carpets lined the aisle to the pergola. Orange and cream fabric draped from the beams. Big arrangements of warm-hued flowers sat on either side and hung from the top of the ceremony spot. It all felt very true to Danielle and Kieler. Their guests definitely won’t forget it anytime soon.
The joyful energy carried into the reception. Danielle and Kieler joined their guests for cocktails in the garden then headed to the reception tent for dinner and dancing. Their guests tore up the dance floor! By the end of the night, shoes were scattered in the grass. It was pure magic.
