“Are you gonna buy me a drink or what?!” These were Laura’s first words to Mike when they met at the Wild Wild West bar in Atlantic City. What they didn’t realize at the time was they were saying hello to their future spouse, and their night at the bar made a lasting impression on one another. At the time, Laura was living in NYC, and Mike was living in Pittsburgh. Mike came all the way to NYC for one of their first dates, and the rest is history. Their intimate Cape May beach wedding is a favorite from the 2020 season!
A fellow photographer and dear friend of Laura’s introduced us, and I was SO ecstatic to be the one capturing their day! Like so many others, Mike and Laura fell victims to the pandemic that’s plaguing the world. Determined and yearning, the two were eager to take up the gauntlet to make that monumental day happen. After countless changes ranging from consolidating the guest list to altering the venue, Laura + Mike decided on an intimate Cape May beach wedding with a dinner party. I remember laughing on the phone with them when they told me they never wanted to get married on the beach. However, it suddenly made the most sense. Cape May is one of their favorite beaches to visit in New Jersey, and just holds that much more meaning to them now.
Their joyous day began with them getting ready in a condo by the beach. They had a beautiful ceremony on the Pittsburgh Avenue beach, a little tribute to the city they now call home. One of their new plans was a rolling happy hour on a Cape May trolley, which I am forever loving! Their intimate Cape May beach wedding is one of the most unique weddings I’ve had the delectation of photographing. Even with the setbacks, they had a celebration with their closest friends and family on a beautiful summer day.
Thereafter we explored Cape May for their photos, they enjoyed dinner at The Inn of Cape May. We ran out to the beach at sunset for one last set of portraits before the night ended. Overall, it really couldn’t have been more splendid, and the love was palpable from start to finish. I truly can’t get enough of their day and would happily relive it over and over again! A big congrats to Mr. + Mrs. Miller!!
