Proposals are easily becoming one of my favorite things to photograph. Just like weddings, they are full of real, raw emotion and there’s nothing else quite like it. Jon’s surprise beach proposal in Rehoboth is such a sweet sentiment to these two. Jon and Emily have been together for many years and everyone was eagerly awaiting this day during their vacation.
This is such a sweet surprise beach proposal in Rehoboth and I’m so happy to have documented it. One of their family members reached out to me about documenting this moment and the engagement party they had planned after. Jon took Emily along the shoreline as I hid behind a jetty rock, and eventually made my way behind a truck on the beach. As they circled back, they looked out at the water and enjoyed the nearly vacant beach around them.
Jon got down on both knees at first (he admittedly got a little nervous and didn’t know which to drop down to!). I could see Emily and Jon’s huge smiles as he slid the ring onto her finger and scooped her into an embrace. A couple nearby beachgoers let out cheers and clapped for them. Emily totally didn’t expect his proposal, but he wasn’t out of surprises yet!
Both of their families eagerly waited up at the beach club, and within moments they all came racing down to hug them. Yall, this was seriously so sweet! Jon’s mom had tears in her eyes as she wrapped them both in her embrace. Everyone was full of smiles and laughter and they soaked up this moment as one big family.
Eventually we headed off to their beach house where even more friends and family awaited them! There were toasts, tears and laughter, and sweet mementos of their years together. All in all, it was a beautiful day and I’m so happy for Jon and Emily! Wishing them lots of love and happiness!
