The Asbury Hotel has a lot of unique features that make it a nontraditional wedding venue. You don’t get your typical ballroom wedding here. Instead you get color, cool design, and flexibility. On top of that, the location is perfect for marriers who want to get portraits in some of Asbury Park’s most iconic spots. Your guests will have an amazing time celebrating you in this one-of-a-kind venue.

The Asbury Hotel

The Asbury Hotel has a few spaces that you can use for your ceremony and reception. Baronet, the rooftop terrace, is a favorite. It overlooks the ocean and historic buildings along the boardwalk. You can have a breezy ceremony or starlit reception. I like how distinctive but simple the design is. It leaves room for you to bring your own aesthetic in with an arch or other decor.

As a nontraditional wedding venue, The Asbury Hotel does a good job of preserving Asbury Park’s artistic character while leaving some flexibility for your personal tastes. The lobby and public spaces have a distinct mid-century modern feeling. Wicker lighting fixtures hang over green and brown paneled walls. The bar is a beautiful backdrop for indoor portraits. 

Even though I’d consider The Asbury Hotel a nontraditional wedding venue, it has so many conveniences. It has well-decorated rooms where you can get ready for your wedding and even stay the weekend. The hotel can provide catering and bar service with ease. They even have event planners on staff to help you plan your wedding. 

The Asbury Hotel can host up to 300 guests. You might be surprised at how affordable the site fees are for this wedding venue. During peak season, rental fees start at just $1,000. The total cost of a wedding at The Asbury Hotel depends on the package you choose as well as your guest count.

If you say “I do” to this nontraditional venue, you’ll never be short on entertainment in the days surrounding your wedding. Baronet hosts movie nights on the rooftop terrace in the summer. Concerts regularly take place up there, too. 

A Nontraditional Wedding Venue with Photo Opportunities

I always recommend that marriers interested in a nontraditional wedding venue consider the location. That way, weather permitting, you can walk around and get a wide variety of photos. In the case of The Asbury Hotel, the location couldn’t be better. Favorite photo spots you can walk to include:

• The beach and boardwalk
• Asbury Convention Hall
• The Stone Pony
• Wonder Bar
• The Carousel Building
• So many murals

If you plan your wedding timeline right, you’ll have plenty of time to explore these sites with just your partner and photographer. You might even bring your wedding party along! The city’s murals and historic buildings make great backdrops for playful group portraits.

The Asbury Hotel is a fun nontraditional wedding venue for marriers who want to play with color. My clients Sarah and Andrew had their wedding party dress in the same shades of blue and red as those that decorate Asbury Park Convention Hall and Wonder Bar. Pops of the same blue show up in the lobby at The Asbury Park Hotel.

Bold jewel tones look amazing in The Asbury Hotel, but you could just as easily opt for earthier colors. It’s easy to picture a 1960’s-inspired palette in this mid-century modern hotel. A wedding party dressed in shades of green or orange would look right at home.

Flowers go a long way to bringing a personal touch to your Asbury Hotel wedding, too. Sarah carried a bouquet of orange, cream, and gold flowers. Daffodils and other yellow and white flowers formed their wedding arch and gave the whole event a springtime feeling. Deep red and orange flowers would look amazing in the fall or winter.
