I put off blogging everything from 2020 for quite some time. The year came in like a lion and shook the wedding industry to its core. Most days I had no idea what was going to happen, and the emails kept pouring in from my couples worried about their wedding days. Sam + Joey were one of my first couples to get married last year, and they were no strangers to the crippling effects of the pandemic. They had to postpone their day from May to June and were total troopers through it all. Their dusty blue backyard wedding could not have been more perfect despite the setbacks!
I met Sam + Joey at Rachel + Brady’s wedding back in 2019! The Layfield family has made me an honorary member at this point which I am SOOO flattered about!! I love this family so very much and felt like a piece of the puzzle both wedding days. Their love story gives me all the feels, and their natural chemistry is palpable when you’re around them. Joey’s elaborate proposal included a personal video and light show, so I already knew their love ran deep. Plus, these two are so much fun to be around, and their personalities compliment each other’s in the best ways.
Their wedding day looks a lot different than what they initially planned. As I’ve told all my couples this year, the only thing that matters at the end is that you marry your person, your best friend, your everything. I knew Sam and Joey felt this way, and their closest friends and family rallied around them for their wedding day. Sam’s parents graciously hosted their minimony in their backyard, which was the sweetest gesture after all their plans changed!
During their ceremony, Sam + Joey were all smiles and laughs while they held hands, exchanged vows, and took part in a foot washing ceremony together. It was a joyous ceremony and I couldn’t be happier to have witnessed the joining of their families on that June afternoon. These two sweethearts were so thankful for everyone who came to their day! I cannot wait to see what’s in store for them in the future, AND that I get to see them again in July!! YAY!! Congrats too Mr. + Mrs. Ziolkowski, you guys are da bomb!!!
